Access control is just what the term implies. Controlling and monitoring who comes and goes through your facility. Systems are as simple as a single keypad controlling a single door strike to multiple programmable controllers on every door that all report to a central server capable of providing history reports as well as remote control of all doors. Typically, this is done by the keypad entry of a unique code for each user or by the use of coded key fobs or cards. Access can be restricted to certain times (scheduling) and to certain doors. This allows a manager or supervisor to have complete unrestricted access to all doors at all times while limiting employees to certain doors within a specific window of time such as 8-5 M-F. Supervisors can use the DOORS software to monitor door activity and program user restrictions without having to touch the door controller or leave the office.
